Gappa garners worldwide attention and is unhappily subjected to scientific experiments. Friday October 4th through Sunday October 7th, NHTI, Concord's Community College will join venues around the globe in hosting the 22nd Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival - a worldwide competition to select the best short films of 2019.  Throughout the week, theatres in over 400 cinemas worldwide will be screening the ten finalists in this year-long competition.  Every viewer will have the opportunity to rate the ten films, and all votes count towards choosing the winner. Concord, NH-- The McAuliffe Shepard Discovery Center will feature “You Can Do Astronomy”, a presentation by Noreen Grice, on Friday August 2nd at 7 p.m. for its August Super Stellar Friday. Every first Friday of the month, the Discovery Center is open from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. with special programs, a planetarium show, and stargazing (weather permitting) with the New Hampshire Astronomical Society. Nashua, NH --On Saturday, May 11, 2019, the New Hampshire Institute for Civics Education (“NHICE”) will screen To Kill a Mockingbird as part of a multi-year statewide program designed to foster conversations with the public on law, justice, and civics.  The screening will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. at Bishop Guertin High School in Nashua, New Hampshire.  There will be a break midway through the movie, and a light snack will be provided.  The program was made possible with support from New Hampshire Humanities, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Humanities. The McAuliffe Shepard Discovery Center’s April Super Stellar Friday will feature a DOUBLE planetarium show on April 5th! The first show will be a special showing of Dawn of the Space Age in honor of Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space. Yuri Gagarin is celebrated each year on April 12th, on the anniversary of man’s first journey into space. The second show will be Tonight’s Sky, led by our Education Coordinator, Sarah Beattie. The double planetarium show will happen during the Discovery Center’s Super Stellar Friday event where the Center is open extra hours every first Friday of the month from 6:30-9:30 PM with special programming.
