To an Asteroid and Back at the Discovery Center

Concord
Concord, NH --The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center looks forward to welcoming James Tralie, a planetary science producer, animator, and TV host at NASA as our September Super Stellar Friday presenter. On September 6, the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center will be hosting a screening of the movie To an Asteroid and Back, directed by James, in our planetarium theater as the main event of Super Stellar Friday. James works at the intersection of science and art to create educational explainer videos, documentary productions, and immersive content for all of NASA’s social channels and for television. His work has aired on Hulu, Delta Airlines In-Flight Entertainment, and on NASA’s award-winning streaming platform, NASA+.

Tralie is a member of the Television Academy and winner of multiple Webby Awards. He recently co-hosted NASA’s 2024 Total Solar Eclipse Broadcast, which has reached over 100 million viewers. To an Asteroid and Back is a documentary film that follows NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission to the near-Earth asteroid Bennu. The film documents the mission's two-decade journey, from the proposal stage to the return of samples from the asteroid to Earth. The film also follows the experts and risk- takers involved in the mission as they search for clues to the early solar system in the asteroid's rock samples.

After the movie screening in the planetarium theater, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a virtual Q&A with James. This event will take place on September 6, and doors will open at 6:30 pm with the movie beginning at 7 pm and the Q&A directly after. Super Stellar Friday is a monthly event hosted by the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center. Along with a guest speaker presentation, attendees can look forward to exploring the exhibits, and weather allowing, look at the stars with New Hampshire Astronomical Society. Please note that this Super Stellar Friday
