New Hampshire Women’s Foundation recognizes Girls at Work with SHE Change award

Manchester, NH -- The New Hampshire Women’s Foundation, at its annual Women Building Communityevent, presented its SHE Changeaward to Girls at Work.

Every year, the New Hampshire Women’s Foundation selects an organization to receive the SHE Change award which promotes opportunity and equality for women and girls in New Hampshire, uses creative solutions to solve complex problems, and exemplifies the values of innovation. Thanks to their pioneering work and innovative programming, Girls at Work has been selected as the 2019 SHE Change winner.

By connecting girls with power tools and woodworking skills, Girls at Work empowers girls with the tools to overcome adversity and build confidence to face current and future life challenges. They have already served 15,000 NH girls in their 20-year history and are ready to expand services in 2020 to be able to serve almost twice the number of girls going forward.

The New Hampshire Women’s Foundation’s Women Building Community, a gathering of nearly 600 attendees, was held on Thursday, October 24, in Manchester. The SHE Changeaward includes a $10,000 grant to Girls at Work. This funding is especially important now, as after almost 20 years, Girls at Work will double their workshop space in Manchester by partnering with FIRST, the national Science and Technology program for kids based in Manchester.

New Hampshire Women’s Foundation CEO, Tanna Clews, said, “We are delighted to be able to support Girls a Work during this time of expansion, which will enable them to give many more girls the tools they need to face life’s challenges.”
