Lighting on the Capital Commons Brings Changes to the Concord Skyline

CONCORD, N.H. – People on an evening stroll down Main Street or driving past the city on Interstate 93 need only look toward the Capital Commons building to learn what the next day’s weather will bring. New colored LED lighting on the top of the building, which houses The Hotel Concord, O Steak & Seafood, Red River Theatres and a number of other businesses, was recently installed along the architectural eyebrow of the building and can now be seen illuminating the top arc of the building each evening with different colors depending on the weather.

“Similar to the old John Hancock Tower in Boston, the lights will primarily be used as a weather indicator,” said David V. Shamoian, President & CEO of the Bravo Zulu Hospitality Group, which manages  The Hotel Concord.  The lights will also be used to celebrate holidays, sports team championships and other special events

“We expect this LED lighting will make Capital Commons an iconic building in downtown Concord,” said Shamoian. “We’d also like to thank the City of Concord for their input on this project. They were fantastic to work with throughout the process and encouraged us to do something interesting. The result is not just some added lighting, but a change to the Concord skyline.”

In addition to the new lighting, The Hotel Concord has opened its exclusive sixth-floor patio spaces, available to guests staying in select rooms on the top floor of the hotel. These luxury king or queen rooms  feature modern floor-to-ceiling windows and walk-out private patios open in the spring, summer and fall months. Each balcony has been designed to allow guests to sit and unwind while taking in views from various vantage points, including Main Street, the Capitol Building and the Merrimack River.

“It’s somewhat unusual to have this kind of amenity in a downtown hotel and I think our customers are really going to enjoy the ability to step outside, get some fresh air, and take in the views of a historic downtown,” added Shamoian.
