Rep. Kuster Calls Out Republicans For Lawsuit to Overturn Health Care, Highlights Democrats’ Agenda To Protect Granite Staters’ Care
Concord, NH – This morning, Protect Our Care’s nationwide Health Care Emergency Bus Tour arrived in Concord to call attention to the ongoing war on health care and the threat posed by Texas v. United States, the lawsuit to overturn the national health care law that covers more than 100,000 Granite Staters directly, and three times as many indirectly.
Headlined by Rep. Annie Kuster, the event highlighted how the lawsuit would harm Granite Staters’ care, called on the New Hampshire Attorney General to denounce the lawsuit, and discussed Democrats’ agenda to improve health care and lower costs for Americans.
You can watch the event here.
“It is unconscionable that the Trump administration is attempting to sabotage our access to health care every single day. I’m excited to be at the forefront of this fight every day in Congress to make sure that people continue to have access to care, and I was proud to carry a bill to protect people with pre-existing conditions from junk plans. We need to come together to strengthen our health care, lower costs, and make sure people continue to have access to care under the Affordable Care Act,” said Congresswoman Annie Kuster.
“In order to achieve affordable, high quality health care for all of us in New Hampshire and around the country, we need to build upon the successes of the ACA,” said Dr. Randy Hayes of the Kent Street Coalition. “I call on President Trump to stop sabotaging this incredibly important health law, and I plead with Governor Sununu and Attorney General MacDonald to oppose the administration’s efforts to do away with the ACA in federal court.”
Carrie Duran, of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, said, “Thanks to the New Hampshire Health Protection Program I am now able to take care of my medical needs such as physicals and preventative care, which I had been putting off previously due to my lack of insurance. I am extremely thankful that I have access to primary and preventative care so that I can be around longer for my children.”
Jayme Simoes, State Director of Protect Our Care New Hampshire, said, “Rep. Kuster has been a leader in passing legislation to lower the costs of prescription drugs, make health care more affordable and strengthening protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions. Annie and her Democratic colleagues are leading the fight against the far right lawsuit to overturn health care and Republicans’ reckless sabotage that will raise costs and end coverage for millions of Americans.”
