Concord, NH–The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center is proud to announce its 2018 Summer Interns: Robert Daneau, an aspiring teacher pursuing a bachelor's degree in mathematics and secondary education with a minor in physics, and Jared Peick, a former recipient of the Alex Higgins Space Camp Memorial Scholarship pursuing a master’s in Space Studies. Together, they will create and implement the Discovery Center’s STEM Summer Day Camps.
Robert Daneau is an undergraduate student at Saint Michael’s College in the class of 2019 currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mathematics and secondary education with a minor in physics. He is from Auburn, NH and enjoys exploring local lakes, rivers, and bike trails with family and friends. His academic interests lie in the realms of physics and applied mathematics, in particular those areas pertaining to astrophysics and dynamical systems respectively. At college, he spends his free time serving as a resident assistant to his peers and a mentor at an afterschool program for a nearby elementary school. He is excited to share his passion for STEM through his work at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center.
Jared Peick graduated from Saint Michael's College in 2013 with a B.S. in Biology and minor in Chemistry and is currently a pursuing Master's degree in the Space Studies program at the University of North Dakota where he will be focusing on the human factors of spaceflight. In 2002, he was a recipient of the Alex Higgins Memorial Space Camp scholarship, which allowed him (and continues to allow 3 children a year) to attend Space Camp. This summer he is very excited to be working with the summer camps at the Discovery Center to help inspire students' curiosity about the world around them and beyond. He is from Penacook, NH and in his spare time loves to hike, golf, ski, and play guitar and drums.
