Perseid Meteor Shower
Prepare for the upcoming Perseid Meteor Shower with two events at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center this Friday, August 7: “Rocks from Space”, a 7 p.m. hands-on program for teens, in which participants learn all about meteorites, followed by “Comets, Asteroids and Meteorites”, an 8:15 p.m. program for the general public. Longtime science educator Bob Veilleux will bring meteorites from his substantial collection for participants to view and handle.

Friday night’s program also includes admission to the exhibit galleries and a 7 p.m. showing of “Tonight’s Sky”, a planetarium show about what’s currently visible in the night sky, and (pending clear skies) members of the NH Astronomical Society will be outside the Discovery Center with telescopes pointed toward planets and stars. All-inclusive cost: $10 for adults, $9 students and seniors, $7 for kids 12 and under; free for members.
