Independence Day is a Blast in New Hampshire

New Hampshire- Celebrate this 4th of July with the sun shining, gas prices falling, and lakes calling at one of New Hampshire’s many attractions including Waterville Valley Resort, the M/S Mount Washington and more. 

The festivities begin on Wednesday, July 4 in Waterville Valley.  Join the community for a traditional parade!  Whether you want to walk in the parade, enter or help a float, or simply just be a spectator, all are welcome.  After the parade, spend the day attending free outdoor concerts and participating in other fun, family activities. The Josh Logan Band will be performing from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in Town Square. Additional family activities and concerts will be happening throughout the weekend. Climb aboard the M/S Mount Washington this 4th of July for an evening of food, fun and fireworks.  Every Independence Day the M/S Mount Washington captures the fireworks display over Lake Winnipesaukee created by the lake’s community members.  Enjoy an entrée buffet dinner for two featuring live music and dance.  For more information visit or call 603-366-5531.

Monadnock Music opens its 47th season with the Monadnock Sinfonietta under the baton of artistic director Gil Rose making his Monadnock Music debut . Theywill perform music commissioned by Martha Graham on Friday, July 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Peterborough Town House.

The program will consist mostly of works commissioned by American dance pioneer Martha Graham including Diversion of Angels by Norman Dello Joio, Hérodiade by Paul Hindemith and Appalachian Spring (complete original ballet) by Aaron Copland. Also on the program will be Chamber Concerto Number One “Yueh Fei” by MacDowell Colony fellow Huang Ruo. Visit

Take a ride to the top of the highest peak in the Northeast on the Mount Washington Cog Railway, one of the world’s great railway adventures.  The track runs up a three mile-long trestle, it is the second steepest mountain climbing train in the world and the only one entirely built on a trestle.  Take a round-trip ride on the Cog and visit New Hampshire’s unique mile-high state park and the Mount Washington Observatory.
