MEREDITH, NH - This year’s Gala Luncheon and Auction to benefit the Loon Preservation Committee’s work is being held at Church Landing in Meredith from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 26th. There will be both a silent auction and a live auction, with Master of Ceremonies Pat Kelly.  Offerings will range from an African Photo Safari vacation, to an overnight stay at the Mandarin Oriental Boston, to gift certificates from local businesses. Admission includes a buffet lunch.

To anyone who has ever heard a loon’s plaintive call across a lake, or watched the beautiful black and white plumed birds dive for food to feed their chicks, the thought of not being able to share our pristine New Hampshire lakes with them is disturbing.  It is for that reason the Loon Preservation Committee (LPC) was organized 36 years ago.  Since then, the grassroots organization has worked to restore and maintain a healthy population of loons throughout New Hampshire.

From both the aesthetic and the scientific point of view, loons are a very important part of our environment. They are recognized in the scientific world as barometers of the health of our lakes.
