BRETTON WOODS, NH - More than 350 travel professionals from around the world will be at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel next month for the 16th annual Discover New England Summit.
The summit rotates among the six New England states. and this is the first time since 2005 that it has been held in New Hampshire. For tourism organizations, it is the only trade show that's dedicated to New England venues interested in marketing to the 1.6 million overseas travelers who come to the region each year.
The conference will be held April 4-6 and will be attended by not only 70 tour operators from around the world, but nearly 300 representatives from hotels, resorts, attractions and destinations in New England.
"The tour operators will come from the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands," O'Connor said. "These are our biggest market countries for international tourism."
White Mountains Attractions will host a reception for the expected 360 attendees on April 4, featuring regional dishes, as well as a photographic tour of the White Mountains Trail, a 100-mile journey through the region and its attractions.
Music will be provided by Katie Rose of Whitefield and the Wicked Smart Horn Band will rock later in the evening.
On April 3, the Lincoln-Woodstock Chamber of Commerce will host the attendees for dinner in the two communities.
Later in the week, the international attendees will take part in educational tours of Littleton, Bethlehem, Franconia Notch, Lincoln, Woodstock, Jackson and Conway.
"At this time of the year, it's a real boon for the area," O'Connor said. "It is our chance to show off to the international market the places their clients can explore and experience on a vacation here."
