Adventure Travel Company takes action against hunger
Monday, May 24, 2010
With a motto of “Ride to eat, eat to ride”, Newburyport-based Easy Rider Tours clearly lays its priorities on the table (so to speak). Whether in Europe, Canada, or New England, outstanding meals with an emphasis on local cuisine are a highlight of each of Easy Rider’s cycling and walking trips. That’s what inspired the adventure travel outfitter to celebrate its 25th anniversary by partnering with humanitarian aid organization Action Against Hunger.
Easy Rider Tours will contribute ten cents for each mile biked and one dollar for each mile walked per guest on each of its 2010 tours to Action Against Hunger. "Ten cents may not sound like much," Goldberg continues, "but as they say, there's power in numbers. Our biking tours average about 300 miles, so twelve cyclists could generate an Easy Rider contribution of $360 on one trip alone." Easy Rider's tour calendar for 2010 includes over fifty trip departures.
Easy Rider Tours runs over twenty active travel itineraries in Portugal, Spain, Ireland, the Canadian Maritimes, and New England. Cycling trips accommodate a wide variety of biking abilities, from novice to avid riders. Tour prices range from $1,995 for six-day European "Breakaway Biking" trips to $5,395 for two-week grand bicycle tours in Portugal or Ireland. Rates include all accommodations, most meals, use of a 24-speed bicycle, two experienced guides, and a support van to carry luggage. (Airfare is not included.)
