Warner, NH –On Saturday, April 9th, from 7 to 9 p.m., the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center will travel to the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum for Spemki Nib8iwi: The Heavens in the Night Time. Visitors are invited to this free outdoor program which will feature stargazing with an indigenous focus. In addition to a bonfire in the Museum’s parking lot, there will be hot drinks, and telescopes set up in the field for sky viewing. Guests will have the opportunity to hear about astronomical knowledge from a variety of indigenous backgrounds and make their own contributions.
Participants are encouraged to dress for outside conditions and bring their own chairs. Restrooms will be available in the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum. In the event of bad weather, the event will be rescheduled for April 23rd.
Dedicated to NH Space Pioneers Christa McAuliffe and Alan Shepard, the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center features 21st century interactive exhibits on aviation, astronomy, Earth and space science, a full-dome, all-digital planetarium and a variety of science, technology, and engineering and mathematics programs.
