McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center to Host Virtual Super Stellar Friday

Concord- The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center will host its monthly online Super Stellar Friday series as taxonomist Dr. Catherine Craig talks about her work via Zoom webinar on Friday, June 4th at 7 pm. At a time when species’ discoveries and extinctions are both news items, understanding what makes a species and how we describe them can illuminate what those trends mean for the future. Dr. Craig, whose recent research focused on hermit crab species within the genus Paguristes, will share her perspective on why taxonomy is important and how it can help us better understand the world around us. Following the presentation, she will answer audience questions in a Q & A session. Online registration is required to access the presentation; see the museum’s website, starhop.com, to register and submit questions in advance. This event is free, but donations are welcome.
