This season marks 128 years of mail service on Lake Winnipesaukee

Boating season has begun and this means that mail boat service is back to Lake Winnipesaukee. On June 15th, the M/V Doris E. will begin delivering mail to many of the islands on the Big Lake, marking the 128thyear of continuous mail service.

In times of closing Post Offices and USPS cut backs, summer island residents of Lake Winnipesaukee are lucky to have this service. And so are visitors. Since 1906, the mail boat has also taken fare paying passengers on her mail trips so that they can enjoy a scenic cruise – and the Doris E. will continue this cherished American tradition.

This season, from June 15thto September 14th, the mail boat will operate two cruises a day (11am and 2pm), six days per week (Monday to Saturday), departing from the Mount Washington docks at the Weirs Beach. Tickets are $28 for adults and $14 for children.

Reservations can be made through the ticket office at 1-888-THE MOUNT (843-6686) or online at www.CruiseNH.com. Tickets are limited to space available on board.
