CONCORD — On Tuesday February 19th at 6:00 pm, NHTI presents the next event in its Wings of Knowledge lecture series for the 2018-19 academic year. In honor of National Engineers Week, Wings presents NH Department of Transportation Commissioner Victoria Sheehan, who will speak on “Emerging Technologies and Transportation Innovation.”
Sworn in as the Commissioner on October 19, 2015, Victoria Sheehan oversees a $650 million state agency of over 1,600 employees dedicated to providing safe and efficient transportation systems. Ms. Sheehan brings both transportation engineering and management experience in projects and programs to her role as Commissioner. In her years as a dedicated public employee, she has worked as a resident engineer in bridge maintenance and as a project manager with a record of delivering contracts on-time and on-budget. She has extensive experience in asset and performance management.
This event is co-sponsored by the NHTI Architectural Engineering Club. Refreshments provided by the Campus Activities Board and Student Senate. One professional development hour will be awarded for attending this event.

- March 5, 2019 – Bill Halacy. Bill will share the Benefits of Asian Medicine in a presentation on Tai Chi and Acupuncture. Following years of study and licensure, Bill – with a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and a nationally certified Diploma in Acupuncture – opened a practice in Asian medicine specializing in Tai Chi as well as Chinese and Japanese acupuncture.
- April 2, 2019 – Culture in Many Societies. NHTI has students from over 50 countries of origin. Hear one of them share insights of home, culture and coming to New Hampshire as the campus celebrates its diversity. Speaker TBA.
- April 23, 2019 – Ty Gagne. Ty – chief executive officer of New Hampshire Public Risk Management Exchange (Primex3) and a certified Wilderness First Responder – will present “Where You’ll Find Me: Risk, Decisions, and the Last Climb of Kate Matrosova,” and why Matrosova’s story represents such a poignant, intriguing and informative case study in risk analysis and decision-making. Special presentation in Sweeney Auditorium.
Launched in 2001-02, Wings of Knowledge is an annual series of cultural events presented by the college. All events are free and open to the public, and take place in the Library Living Room unless otherwise noted. The series supports and expands upon NHTI’s wide variety of academic offerings, and is another element in the college’s expanding community college mission.
