On Friday night, December 2, the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center’s Super Stellar Friday features NASA personnel discussing human exploration of the solar system, live via Google Hang-Outs. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; at 7 p.m., Discovery Center Director of Education Kim Duncan, Ph.D., will discuss the plan for humanity’s first steps on Mars in a special teens-only workshop, while other visitors take in December’s Tonight’s Sky planetarium show or explore the exhibit galleries. Make your holiday season merry and bright with an evening of holiday music and folk favorites. Celebrated folk duo Susie Burke and David Surette will join with sideman extraordinaire Kent Allyn for an uplifting night of music, interweaving nimble guitar and mandolin playing, masterful bass and piano accompaniment, and heartfelt vocals. General admission to the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center will be free for all veterans, active duty military and their families this Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, thanks to a generous grant from Northeast Delta Dental. Veterans Day events at the Discovery Center will include special gallery activities, opportunities to explore the Discovery Center’s new NASA exhibition, The Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe, to view the vintage 1956 Crusader jet and experimental KitFox IV aircraft and to check out the Center’s permanent exhibits. Veterans and active duty military and their families are encouraged to bring photographs and memorabilia to share with others in a special “Veterans Corner” hosted by Discovery Center Executive Director Jeanne T.
