Concord, NH a quintessential New England small city tucked on the banks of the Merrimack River is the perfect destination for couples this Thanksgiving. Couples looking for all the fixings of a traditional Thanksgiving meal can find themselves at the Common Main, a local restaurant adorned with multiple “Best of” awards from New Hampshire Magazine, Hippo Press, The Concord Monitor, and the Union Leader.

They offer a “Fall in Love” package ($259 a night) that includes the room, a voucher for dinner and breakfast as well as hard apple cider with a cheese and nuts plate waiting for you in the room.


Rooms start at $169 a night. Alternative shopping options to traditional Black Friday are abundant. Couples can explore shops located amid the brick 19th century architecture of the downtown area. Almost 100% of the stores and restaurants are locally owned and they range from high fashion, to antiques, to a range of authentic cuisines including Greek, Asian, American, vegan and more. Located on Main Street are a variety of art-inspired stores including the League of NH Craftsmen, Capital Craftsmen and Romance Jewelers, art galleries and shops with other rare finds.


Downtown is also home to the Capitol Center for the Arts. Friday, November 28, National Theater’s production of Frankenstein directed by Danny Boyle (12 years a Slave) will be broadcasted ($15 adults/ $12 students) and Dueling Pianos, an interactive piano concert, will be performing ($23 Orchestra and Mezzanine/ $19 Balcony). An alternative option for evening entertainment is the Red River Theater, a non-profit art house cinema that features independent movies. The facilities include the Indie Café that features wine, beer, sandwiches, and locally made candies.
