“End of an Era” with Author Ted Spitzmiller at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center

Concord, NH – Author, historian and pilot Ted Spitzmiller will be visiting the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord, New Hampshire on Friday, September 30 at 7 PM for a presentation that will chronicle the era of the Space Shuttle.

Spitzmiller is the author of the two volume series Astronautics, which chronicle the Space Age from the development of rocketry to the shuttle missions and the future of space exploration. Spitzmiller’s visit to the Discovery Center will include a presentation, “End of an Era”, on the development of the Shuttle, the reasons it failed to achieve its primary goals, and the prospects for the future of human space flight. After the presentation will be a Q&A session and book-signing.

Hop Over to Waterville Valley Resort for a Fun-Filled Easter Weekend

Waterville Valley Resort, NH – There is a full basket of activities being offered this Easter weekend at Waterville Valley.

It all starts on Saturday, April 23, with Easter Basket Decorating from 10 a.m. to noon, get your basket ready for the Easter Bunny at the Recreation Department. Cost is $5 per person and families can bring their own baskets or purchase one from us to decorate. Curious George Story Time follows at 11 a.m. and again at 3 p.m. at the Margret and H.A. Rey Center. $5 per child suggested donation. Pull up a bean-bag chair to hear your favorite Rey stories read out loud. Selections will include stories from the Curious series as well as other Rey favorites such as Pretzel, Elizabite, Cicely G and more. CONCORD -- The literary life of Concord will be celebrated Oct. 21-23 with live performances, author readings and community events throughout the downtown area.

The Concord Literary Festival is sponsored by the New Hampshire Writers’ Project and tthirty community partners. Events include author readings and book signings, poetry readings and slam performances, workshops, films, New Hampshire horror story readings, plays and First Amendment discussions.
